Ideas from the book "Psychogrography" by Merlin Coverley
in the Last chapter: psychogeography today
"Blake has been identified as the godfather of psychogeography"
JG Ballard has talked about the "Death of Affect"- the loss of emotional engagement with our surroundings and the behavioural impact of urban space.
Iain Sinclair- mines a vertical seam through the city's past.
I went to a lecture on biodiversity at Birkbeck last Friday where we were reminded of the environmentalist's slogan: "Think global -act local."
We were recommended to look at the book "Biophilia" by E O Wilson
Biophilia- the connections that human beings subconsciously seek with the rest of life.
That sounds interesting, will look into it.
ReplyDeleteMight be worth brain-storming the three quotes here. The Sinclair is the obvious one if we are going to pick a specific site. Ballard and Blake could apply to almost any aspect we choose.
